Case study
Ojoo culverts and flyover
Ojoo, Ibadan. 5,400 m³ of SR Marine and ready-mix C35.
The challenge
What made it hard
The culverts sit in a stream channel that carries runoff and waste water most of the year. Soil tests found sulphate levels that would attack ordinary concrete within a decade.
Our approach
What we did
- SR Marine cement for every element below the flood line
- C35 ready-mix with a low water cement ratio for the deck
- Night pours on the main road to keep traffic moving
- Temperature monitoring in thick sections to stop cracking
The soil report frightened us. The right cement fixed it.

Result
How it finished
5,400 cubic metres placed over seven months. The culverts passed their first rainy season with no seepage at the joints.
Questions
People ask us about this job
Short answers.
Could this work on a smaller site?
Yes. The same scheduling applies to a duplex on a busy street: pour early, keep drum times short, test every truck.
Who paid for the cube tests?
They are included in our ready-mix price for projects above 100 m³.
Can I speak to the contractor?
For a real project we can introduce you with their permission. These names are invented for the demo.

Bodija market traders' hall
The market could not close. Seven thousand traders depend on it, and the old hall had to be rebuilt in phases while the rest kept trading. Deliveries had to.
