Case study
Bodija market traders' hall
Bodija, Ibadan. 8,200 m³ of Ready-mix C30 and 42.5R.
The challenge
What made it hard
The market could not close. Seven thousand traders depend on it, and the old hall had to be rebuilt in phases while the rest kept trading. Deliveries had to avoid market hours completely.
Our approach
What we did
- Pours scheduled on Sundays from 5am, when the market is quiet
- Two boom pumps on standby so one breakdown never stopped a slab
- Batching moved to our Bodija yard, eight minutes away, for short drum times
- Cubes from every truck, results shared with the consultant each week
We planned around the traders, and Monolith planned around us.

Result
How it finished
Eleven Sunday pours, 8,200 cubic metres, no trading day lost. Every 28 day cube passed.
Questions
People ask us about this job
Short answers.
Could this work on a smaller site?
Yes. The same scheduling applies to a duplex on a busy street: pour early, keep drum times short, test every truck.
Who paid for the cube tests?
They are included in our ready-mix price for projects above 100 m³.
Can I speak to the contractor?
For a real project we can introduce you with their permission. These names are invented for the demo.
Next case
Ojoo culverts and flyover
The culverts sit in a stream channel that carries runoff and waste water most of the year. Soil tests found sulphate levels that would attack ordinary concrete.
