02From scrap to site
Six steps, one working day
Every bar we sell can be traced back through these six steps by the heat number on its tag.

Scrap yard
Sorted, sheared and weighed. Every load is checked for sealed containers and non steel.
Ambient - 02
Melt
An induction furnace melts 30 tonnes of scrap in about ninety minutes.

Refine and cast
Ladle refining sets the chemistry, then a continuous caster forms billets.
1,560 °C - 04
Reheat and roll
Billets are reheated and pass through eighteen rolling stands.
1,150 °C - 05
Quench
Water boxes harden the surface, the core tempers the bar from inside.
600 °C - 06
Bundle and test
Cut to 12 metres, bundled, tagged with a heat number and tested in our lab.
