The brief

The contractor needed 3,800 tonnes over nine months, with most of it in Y25 and Y32 for piers and deck beams. Pours were planned around the dry season, so a late truck would have cost weeks.

What we did

We set up a delivery calendar tied to the pour programme and cut and bent 2,900 tonnes at the mill, labelled by bar mark. Our estimator sat in the contractor's weekly site meeting.

The result

Every pour went ahead on the planned day. The client's engineer witnessed tensile tests on twelve heats; every result matched our certificates.

Lessons

Bundling by pour rather than by size saved the site crew about a day per pour, and is now standard for our large projects.

Nine months, thirty one pours, every truck on the day.
