The truckload question

How many trucks does your site need?

Pick the job and the size of the building. The tipper fills, the fleet lines up and you see the trips and the bill before you call anyone.

Feature · From blast to tipper

A day at the face

The day starts before the call to prayer has finished echoing across the pit. By half past five the first loader is warming up beside the stockpiles, and the weighbridge clerk is checking the overnight list against the dispatch board: forty-one loads booked, nine of them trailers for an estate road in Kumbotso.

Blasting happens twice a week, at eleven, with sirens and a full clearance of the bench. The rest of the time the work is steadier: excavators feeding the primary jaw, the conveyor carrying broken rock to the cone crusher, and three decks of screens shaking it into the sizes you order.

Every stockpile has a board with its batch number and the date it was last sampled. Our lab assistant takes a bucket from each pile every morning, and nothing is loaded from a pile that has not passed its sieve test that week.

By the time the afternoon heat sets in, most of the city deliveries are done. The drivers who work the outer towns leave last, after the worst of the Zaria road traffic, and are back before the gate closes at six.

“Nothing leaves the pit on a guess. It leaves on a ticket, a weight and a time.”Hauwa, dispatch lead (example team member)

§ 02 · How ordering works

Four steps, one ticket

Most customers order on WhatsApp or by phone. The website does the same job at any hour, with the sums done for you.

  1. Size the job

Use the truckload calculator or send us your drawings. We turn square metres into tonnes and trips.

  2. Fix the price

Material per tonne plus haulage by zone and truck. You see both before you pay a kobo.

  3. Book the window

Pick a day and a three-hour window. Early slots beat the school run on Zoo Road.

  4. Weigh and deliver

The truck crosses our weighbridge, the ticket comes to your phone, the driver calls when he is ten minutes away.

§ 03 · Letters

From the people who pour it

We asked contractors, block makers and one very patient landlord what it is like to buy from the pit. Example reviews for this demo.

★★★★★

We poured a 300 square metre shop slab on Zoo Road with three trailers of three-quarter inch. All three were on site before eight. The stone was clean enough that my site engineer stopped checking.

★★★★★

I mould six-inch blocks for estates in Kumbotso. Since I moved to their quarry dust and sharp sand mix my breakages in transit dropped, and my buyers noticed.

Aisha, example client, block maker
★★★★★

The calculator said four trips of base for my driveway and yard. It was four trips. The driver even waited while we moved a car.
