What the check looks at
These are the common risk factors doctors ask about. Some you can change; some you cannot, but knowing them helps.
Blood pressure
Often silent. The only way to know is to measure it.
Food and movement
Salt, oil, sugar and sitting all add up over the years.
Family history
Heart disease in close family before 60 is worth telling your doctor about.
Questions
About this check
Is this a medical test?
No. It is a short questionnaire to help you decide how soon to see a doctor. Only a consultation and tests can tell you about your heart.
My result was low. Can I skip a check-up?
A low result is good news, but it is not a guarantee. A check every two to three years after 40 is still sensible.
Can I do this for my parent?
Yes. Answer as they would, and use the result to start the conversation.
